After previously naming versions of OS X after big cats of some description, the company turned to locations in California for recent releases.

Apple tends to release new versions of mac OS with a "tick, tock" cadence.

I avoided upgrading to mac OS 10.10 (Yosemite) when it was first released because of all of the stability issues surrounding it and have stuck to mac OS 10.9.5.

Never “purchased” or even attempted to download it via the Apple app store.
